About Tiny Footsteps Preschool

Tiny Footsteps is centrally located in Bountiful, Utah and is run by teachers trained in education and child development who believe in the unique talents of children and their innate desire to learn. We utilize an active environment, stimulating activities, and lots of play to help our learners want to engage in and enjoy the learning process.

Tiny Footsteps Preschool employs three teachers to provide continuity and quality of service to our students and families. Each class is taught with two teachers, allowing us to provide the highest quality of care for children in our program. Our teachers are Jennifer Munk, (Lead Teacher) who has taught with Tiny Footsteps for 6 years; Megan Bowden, (4-5 year-old assistant) who has taught with Tiny Footsteps Preschool for 8 years; Mary Kate Traeden, (3-4 year-old assistant) has been with our school for 4 years.

The History of Tiny Footsteps

The creator of Tiny Footsteps was Heather Traeden. She has background including an MEd in Education, an MS in Human Development and Social Policy, a BA in Human Development and Family Studies from the University of Utah, and a certification and licensure in Applied Behavior Analysis. She completed a graduate program in Child Life in 2000 and subsequently worked at Primary Children's Medical Center for over 6 years as a Child Life Specialist. During her time as a Child Life Specialist, she became trained in many beneficial therapies for children (e.g. play, art, imagery, stress reduction, etc.) and had the opportunity of working with and teaching many children everyday. Heather has been certified as a Behavior Analyst for over four years and works with Neurobehavioral Center for Growth providing administrative oversight, ABA therapy to children with ASD, and providing training to those who work with children.

Heather's passion for educational excellence started in 2003 as she started a grass roots effort to develop Legacy Preparatory Academy (LPA), a Charter School in NSL, which opened in 2006. Legacy Preparatory Academy is a K-9 public charter school providing educational excellence to over 1,000 students each year. Heather served as a member of the governing board of LPA for over ten years and is very active in educational choice. She has previously served as a member of the governing board for Dual Immersion Academy, The Utah Charter Network, and The Utah Association of Public Charter Schools.

Heather has trained the staff of Tiny Footsteps Preschool in her educational approaches and knowledge, curriculum teaching and implementation, and positive behavioral strategies.  She provides ongoing training and supervision as needed for the school, students, and support of the teachers.
